Lanterns

This piece is based upon a lilac tree that has grown over an old railway shed, it caught my eye as the autumn sunlight hit the leaves perfectly to make them look lit like lanterns, it is a beautiful contrast to the dark, worn and angular shed. I used a mixture of ink and oil paint, I wanted to keep a light and playful gesture to the brushwork and added gold and yellow spray to enhance the luminescence of the work.
