The Barbican
Mixed Media on Canvas
150 x 270 cm
SOLD
This piece was made as an addition to the City Lights Series, inspired by long exposure photography during twilight hours. The main structural element is a reference to The Barbican in London, creating a strong brutalist line, I wanted to use the angles of this iconic building to offset and cut through the fluidity of the ink washes, that capture the undulating light of dusk. The bright artificial lights illuminate the night and change as you walk around the piece to show the ephemeral quality that this time of night has. My focus was to capture the exciting and awe- inspiring nature of the city as well as a slight uneasiness of the approaching night.
